Turning Quarantine Lemons into Language Fluency

I’m generally a pretty positive and optimistic person. I’m also an empath and feel like the fear and worry of the world has been resting on my shoulders. I have prepared myself and my family the best that I can for the COVID-19 pandemic and have decided that now it’s time to turn lemons into lemonade and pull myself out of the counterproductive coronavirus news spiral. I am grateful that, at least for now, I am safe, healthy, and employed. If your situation isn’t currently as bright, my heart is with you.

How I’m turning lemons into Spanish fluency:

With COVID-19, life could be seen as stalled and days filled with boredom, I’ve decided to seize the day and maximize my time during quarantine! Without my daily commute, Friday night movies, or eating at my favorite restaurants, I have a lot more downtime on my hands to work on all the self-improvement projects (like learning a foreign language) that I’ve had in the queue. It feels so good to be doing something productive with my day.

I can’t travel now, but when I do, my experience will be even richer when I’m fluent in a foreign language. Spring Break was ruined and summer won’t be spent at the beach… But, when I finally get to use my passport again, my trips will be so much more meaningful when I can connect with natives in their language. Meeting interesting people is my favorite part of travel anyway.

To combat loneliness, I’m talking and connecting with my Parley Blue language coach. I’ve almost forgotten what it feels like to go to a party. Instead of becoming depressed in isolation, I’m having meaningful and entertaining conversations with my Parley Blue language coach.

I hope you are staying healthy and have plenty of food and toilet paper. Hopefully, you’re figuring out how to make the most out of this situation as well.
