Learn Faster: Be Immersed in Portuguese from Home

People love to say that the best way to learn a language is through immersion. While immersion is one component to fluency, you won’t magically become fluent in Portuguese just by moving to Brazil. Combining “immersion” with deliberate practice will advance your Portuguese faster than simply moving abroad. Mimicking these three immersion hacks has had a greater impact on my fluency and comprehension than my time spent living in Brazil alone.

Hack 1: Listen to Comprehensible Input The single most important immersion hack is to spend focused time listening to complete native sentences that you greatly, but don’t completely, understand. The sentences must be hard but not too hard. You can do this from the comfort of your own home through our database of Portuguese native audio sentences.

Hack 2: Converse With a Native and Mimic Them To learn to speak with amazing pronunciation, you need a dedicated native to speak with. Listen and mimic, just as you did as a child to learn your first language. Thanks to the internet, you don’t even have to leave your house to find a native Portuguese speaker to talk to!

Hack #3: Daily exposure to Portuguese Language acquisition is scientific. For English speakers, it takes 600 hours of quality immersion in native audio to become fluent in Portuguese. Every minute of dedicated effort will bring you closer to your goal. You MUST practice Portuguese consistently to reach the 600-hour target.
